4 Free Things to Do in Chicago This Autumn
Free fall fun.
Let’s get real: pumpkin patches can be expensive. Here’s a few free things you can do in and around Chicago this autumn!
Oaktoberfest, Downtown Oak Park
September 20th – 21st
Though not technically Chicago… Downtown Oak Park is always fun when there’s a festival happening. With seasonal craft beer and food, plus live music, Oaktoberfest will definitely be a blast.
Fall Fest at Lincoln Park Zoo
Fridays through Sundays, September 27th – October 27th
Pick your pumpkin. Check out the corn maze (or corn pool). Go on the Ferris wheel. You can still visit with animals, too!
Pier Pumpkin Lights
October 1st – November 2nd
Every photo opportunity possible for fall! Jack o’lantern towers, spooky light displays, and more will be all along the famous Navy Pier on the lakefront.
North Park Nature Preserve
Open Year-Round
46 acres of trails, wildlife, and nature to explore. North Park Nature Center/Preserve is a beautiful place to spend a fall day, especially while the leaves change.
